Board Meeting
March 28, 2024

Call to Order:
The SHRMA board meeting began virtually at 4:00 pm. It was presided over by Bonnie Rivers, president and recorded by Heidi Hand, secretary.
Approval of Minutes:
A motion to approve the February meeting minutes was made by Jennifer, seconded by Kansas, and passed unanimously.
Review of Financials:
A financial update was provided by Jennifer. A motion to approve the financial report was made by Heidi, seconded by Bonnie, and passed unanimously.
Officer’s Updates:
• A programs update was presented by Bonnie. April and May meeting topics are planned and presenters are scheduled. Bonnie will send a reminder email out one week prior to the April meeting. HR Analytics details will be finalized and the description on the website will be updated.
• A communications update was presented by Jordan. She will be updating her communications plans and asked the group to like the social media posts and add comments.
• Priya presented a logistics update. She added the chapter website QR code and link to the meeting posts and emails. The May meeting will be a morning breakfast meeting. Priya and Bonnie will not be able to attend the April meeting. Heidi can cover the catering, registrations, and room set up.
SHRM Volunteer Updates
• Bonnie shared the updated Volunteer Leader Playbook which contains quarterly and monthly ideas and initiatives.
• The Oregon SHRM state council will be reaching out to board members to touch base and provide support for specific chapter roles.
• NHRMA is requesting chapter support for the 2024 HR Leaders of Tomorrow conference. Jordan made a motion to donate $250 and Kansas seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
• Shauneen would like each chapter to submit for the Pinnacle Award for 2024. Several of the ideas we brainstormed at the last meeting would qualify, such as after-hours networking which is in the category of Serving our Profession. Volunteering to help with resume writing would qualify for Community Outreach. The board will consider which ideas could be implemented and discuss further at the next meeting.
Strategy Session:
The group reviewed the ideas from our February brainstorming session. Heidi can research the cost of a Networking & SHRM Foundation night at the ball field this summer. Priya will coordinate getting info from Bentley’s for a networking event in the fall.
Other Updates/ Announcements:
Bonnie will contact the MAPS Credit Union West Salem branch to further clarify the bank signing process for adding/removing board members.
